I have talked to a lot of satisfied Native Plant Sale customers over the years who have really enjoyed
the immediate success they got with one of our Bird and Butterfly gardens. Their success goes beyond gardening
success...our success at conserving land in our metropolitan area depends on the ability to connect together
the larger areas we preserve. Thank you for the little oases that dot the landscape and for making sure that
the Conservancy is not merely preserving islands of nature - together we are creating a beautiful, functional
landscape where we can joyfully live with nature.
We would love to see photos of your Bird and Butterfly or other native gardens and share them on this website.
Please call me at (248) 601-2816 or
email me to share your stories and photos.
Wishing you much gardening joy,
Donna Folland, Executive Director

BIRD and BUTTERFLY GARDENS
DEB - Orion Township
Deb's backyard bird and butterfly garden was planted in June of 2006. Deb says about her garden:
" My butterfly garden is beautiful. I had butterflies and birds visiting all summer in the first year. I learned
a lot. The layout map helped - it is a good way to start native landscaping". Now that Deb is cleaning up from
winter, she uses the layout map to know the names and locations of everything that is sprouting up!
STEPHANIE and ANGELIKA - Warren
Stephanie and her sister Angelika are both looking forward to geting some new additions to their
native gardens at this year's Native Plant Sale. Stephanie sent in this photo taken Summer 2006 in Angelika's
garden.
